More Than Food: Expanding the Support We Offer

At Pete’s Pantry, we know that financial pressure doesn’t stop at the grocery aisle. Everyday essentials such as shampoo, toothpaste, soap, laundry detergent and toilet paper can also become difficult to afford.

Recent research from Good360 Australia highlighted the growing issue of hygiene poverty, with more than 1 in 4 Australians redirecting money they would normally spend on hygiene products to pay for food, and more than 1 in 2 redirecting that spending to meet other essential costs.

In response, Pete’s Pantry has expanded the range of products available to include more personal care, hygiene, household cleaning and laundry essentials, alongside our regular groceries.

It’s a simple but important step towards providing more practical support for people doing it tough — and helping everyone who visits Pete’s Pantry access the everyday essentials many of us take for granted.
