Behind every food parcel is a person, a family, and a story.

Across Victoria, more than 500,000 households, including over 400,000 children experience severe food insecurity, often facing impossible choices between food, housing, healthcare, and other essential expenses.

Through our partnership with Somebody’s Child, Pete’s Pantry is helping turn compassion into action. Together, we provide practical food assistance, connection, and hope to people doing it tough, creating a welcoming space where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

Because no one should have to face food insecurities alone.

What we do.

Pete’s Pantry is a community pantry providing affordable groceries, a warm cuppa, and a welcoming place where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. We help ease the cost of everyday living while creating opportunities for connection and community.

Why we do it.

No one should have to choose between putting food on the table and paying for life’s essentials. Pete’s Pantry exists to support individuals and families doing it tough, offering practical assistance, hope, and a friendly face when it’s needed most.

How we do it.

Pete’s Pantry is made possible through a partnership between St Peter’s Murrumbeena and Somebody’s Child, bringing together volunteers, donors, businesses and the local community. Together, we’re turning generosity into practical support—one pantry visit at a time.

Who does it.

Pete’s Pantry is powered by dedicated volunteers from diverse faiths, backgrounds and the wider community, united by a shared desire to help others. Together with Somebody’s Child, we transform generosity into practical support, dignity and hope.
